Firm History
Belt Collins grew from the combination of a charismatic planner, Walter K. Collins, and the consummate civil engineer,
Robert M. Belt, when they got together in Honolulu more than 50 years ago.
Belt Collins was the first in the Pacific and Asia region to combine urban and land planning, civil engineering,
landscape architecture, and environmental consulting within one professional organization.
Several factors have led to these achievements. First is enlightened leadership that spends an enormous amount
of time developing and mentoring upcoming talent. The second factor is Belt Collins' sensitivity to local cultures,
customs, and natural environments. Third is the firm's work on seminal studies that have created whole new ways of
looking at large land parcels and their uses.
