Landscape Architect I


Position Summary:
Responsible for working on and leading a full range of assignments in delivery of all project phases and administration, as well as scoping work and developing the project approach and work plans for support projects. Landscape projects could include, master plans through detail design plans for construction, hospitality resorts, mixed use commercial, residential, recreational, transportation, or instructional type projects.

Essential Duties/Functions:

  • Designs and manages landscape architecture projects and teams.
  • Develops, modifies and reviews drawings for landscape architecture projects.
  • Demonstrates creative thinking abilities and contributes to firm wide design excellence and problem solving.
  • Demonstrates understanding of the relationship between design and constructability.
  • Incorporates integrated sustainable design solutions into projects.
  • Participates in managing client relationships.
  • Assures that company document standards are met, and archives documents appropriately.
  • Assists in preparation of proposals, participates in interviews and public presentations.
  • Understands company agreements, contracts and deliverables, and assures that company standards for project management are met.
  • Be a mentor and assist with junior staff.
  • Actively promotes collaborative and innovative culture.
  • Participates in professional organizations and events for the promotion of the firm and its services, sometimes outside of normal business hours.
  • Proactively engages staff and provides opportunities for development.
  • Ability to reserve a car, hotel, and transportation needs (air, train, etc.) with the rationale that business expenses will be reimbursed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned to meet business needs.

Qualifications Requirements:


  • Excellent hand graphics and rendering skills are required.
  • Competency with the Adobe Creative Suite is necessary.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Computer skills required to enter data into spreadsheets or databases.
  • Ability to work independently as well in multi-disciplinary teams.
  • General Competencies expected of all employees are as follows: Client service, commitment, communication, innovation and continuous improvement, professionalism, quality, and teamwork. (Note that "Clients" may be internal managers and staff.)
  • Experience in proactive and reactive marketing.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Possess the ability to self-edit and effectively communicate design ideas.
  • Ability to obtain a valid passport within three months of hire.
  • Performs other duties as assigned to meet business needs.
  • Knowledge of local culture preferred.
  • Valid Driver's License.


  • A Bachelor's Degree in Landscape Architecture. Master's degree is preferred.
  • Licensed Professional Landscape Architect.
  • The ability to earn the LEED certification within 12-months of obtaining position.
  • A strong combination of graphic, design, technical, project management, and communication skills and the ability to perform in a deadline-driven work environment.
  • Proficiency with MS Office, AutoCAD Civil 3D and Photoshop is required. Experience with ArcGIS software, SketchUp and other graphics software is a plus.
  • Strong hand graphics skills for both plan and perspective sketches.

Work Experience:

  • Minimum five(5) years of progressive experience in Landscape Architecture.
  • Experience working in diverse settings.
  • Supervisory experience preferred.

Working Conditions:

  • Monday through Friday.
  • Evening and weekends as needed.
  • Occasional travel may be required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally, in writing and over the telephone.
  • Occasionally requires bending and lifting/transporting of moderately heavy objects; up to 30lbs.
  • Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, power tools, and to handle other computer components.
  • General vision, hearing, speech, walking and standing required. Turning, twisting, kneeling, and bending performed.
  • Requires alertness to respond to audio and visual cues from the environment, including computers, calculators, telephone systems and other staff members.
